Why Are Updates Required for My H&R Block Software?

When you install your H&R Block Software, it’s current with all tax laws at that time. However, the IRS and your state taxing authority change tax forms and also update and clarify many tax laws throughout the tax season. For that reason, many of the tax forms included in the H&R Block Software program weren’t ready for filing at the time we initially released the program.

The tax forms that most people need will be ready by early January. We release the H&R Block Software program with draft versions of the tax forms that are very close to what we expect the IRS and state taxing authorities to accept for filing.

This means you can get a jump start on entering your tax information early, so you don’t have to wait until all of the tax forms you need are ready for filing.

More About H&R Block Software Updates

We’ll let you know if you have tax forms in your H&R Block Software return that the IRS or state taxing authority isn’t ready to accept for filing. We’ll also let you know when you can expect an update to become available.

When the IRS is ready to accept your return, all you have to do is review the entries you’ve already made, then e-file your return.
