Every year, tax law changes require that we build new editions of our software programs. If you want to use H&R Block to file old taxes from your previous returns, we’ve made it easy to purchase back editions of H&R Block Tax Software. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Find the software for the tax year you need to prepare.
  2. Then, choose Windows or Mac.
  3. Click Download Now to purchase your software.
  4. That software will be for the tax year you need, so you can be sure your prior-year taxes are accurate.

The IRS only accepts e-files for current year returns. When you file old taxes with H&R Block, you’ll need to print and mail any prior-year returns to the IRS and / or your state’s Department of Revenue. The only exception is for certain New York state returns that H&R Block Tax Software supports for prior-year e-filing.
