Why Won’t H&R Block Deluxe Import My TurboTax Return?

Are you trying to import last year’s tax info from TurboTax into H&R Block Deluxe, but having issues? We can help.

When you try to import last year’s TurboTax return into H&R Block Deluxe, you might receive this message: “There was a problem converting your file.”

This is a problem that happens from time to time, but we have an easy solution. The conversion issue occurs because TurboTax defaults to saving your return as an encrypted file. The solution is to open your previous-year return in TurboTax, create a duplicate, and then save a copy without encryption. Once you’ve completed this step, your H&R Block product import should proceed without any problems.
