H&R Block

For the second time this year, Great Place to Work® Institute has recognized H&R Block India for workplace excellence. H&R Block’s Trivandrum and Hyderabad offices were named last month among the Top 10 India’s Best Workplaces™ for Women 2022. Earlier this year, H&R Block India was included on the Institute’s Great Place to Work® listing.

In an environment where about 23% of Indians say there is “a lot of discrimination” against women, according to the Pew Research Center, H&R Block India was selected as a Best Workplaces for Women winner because of its work culture, which intentionally pursues diversity and values women’s voices. Improving diversity is one of H&R Block’s broadest efforts, aimed at continually ensuring every voice is heard and every associate feels safe, included and inspired. The company’s efforts are timely, specific, visible, inclusive, and performance based.

“As a woman, I feel honored to be part of an organization that consistently works to develop an inclusive culture and gives women a platform to continuously grow in their career,” said Anshu Jain, General Manager at H&R Block India. “I found my voice and my identity here, and absolutely love being part of this team.”

H&R Block India supports women by offering flexible schedules, mentoring, care centers for associates with young children, a program for new moms, a well-defined career path for associates who are back to work after a career break, and more.

“We focus on building programs like this to ensure that all associates feel a sense of pride in their workplace, specifically with women, who are often underrepresented,” said Hari Prasad, Vice President of H&R Block India. “We are proud to celebrate this recognition and the hard work from our team to make this an inclusive environment for all.”

We promote continuous advancement of women by ensuring equal representation in our organization, right from our hiring process all the way up to senior leadership roles. Roles created here are well defined and all associates with a learning mindset are provided with ample development opportunities. Block supports more than just work, too! There are numerous ways for associates to showcase and develop their skills and passions beyond work – be it in dance, music, sports, literature, innovation. In a nutshell, H&R Block provides the right mix of opportunities, fun, and a stable work environment, which I believe brings out the best in us and makes us leaders in whatever we set out to do. The recognition has helped in reinforcing that moving to Block was the best decision I’ve ever made in my career.

How do you think H&R Block India can continue advancing women?
Many organizations in India experience gender discrimination, especially when performance evaluation is based on the number of hours spent at work. It’s difficult for many women to balance their work and personal lives. However, at H&R Block, I’m treated like a human being. Our company ensures that every individual has an equal opportunity to showcase their talents, and we work together to achieve goals. H&R Block India is doing a great job with advancing women, and I am empowered knowing it will continue.
