“Both taxes and music are a deeply personal part of life, so what better way to represent the intersection of taxes and music than a Tax Season Spotify playlist,” said Amy Labroo, Vice President, Growth Marketing, Engagement and Analytics at H&R Block. “We believe this playlist will resonate with listeners whether they are filing their taxes or getting ready for a night out. As we continue celebrating Tax Season, this playlist showcases that tax season can be positive, empowering and a season worth celebrating.”

What do people do while filing taxes? A recent H&R Block survey revealed that 20% of their clients enjoy listening to music while filing taxes. Most enjoy rock (17%) and R&B (13%) to get in the zone, closely followed by country and pop.

“Playlists are the new place where Gen Z wants to discover and interact with brands,” said Liz Song, Global Category Development Officer for Financial Services at Spotify. “Sixty-three percent of young financial services purchasers tell us they enjoy brands who curate playlists on streaming platforms. It is exciting to see H&R Block lean into playlist culture and bring their distinct sound to a segment of music fans who are increasingly also taxpayers.”

But music isn’t the only thing that helps them on their journey to getting a maximum refund, which is made possible by H&R Block’s upfront and transparent pricing, and fueled by the expertise of more than 60,000 tax pros. They also enjoy eating a favorite snack and enjoying their favorite beverage while filing. And when it comes to their “vibe,” another 30% said they bring “golden retriever energy” into doing their taxes, which means being easygoing with a positive attitude.

No matter your music or energy, the tax season playlist offers something for everyone.  Sixty-two songs were curated to get listeners in a positive, celebratory and empowering mindset while filing – whether using the online, digital savvy DIY platform, or doing so in person. This is aided by having the option to choose a tax filing soundtrack that is custom and mood-based depending on music preferences, including artists and genres and listening habits and tastes.
