Start of e-file marks 60th tax season for H&R Block

H&R Block (NYSE: HRB), the world’s largest consumer tax services provider, begins its 60th tax season focusing on the billions of dollars in refunds that H&R Block helps its clients get each year. According to the IRS, more than three out of four taxpayers receive a federal tax refund. Last year, that refund averaged approximately $2,800.

“This isn’t tax season, this is refund season! H&R Block gets our clients billions back each year and we do everything to get them the maximum refund they’re entitled to, guaranteed,” said Richard Gartland, H&R Block senior tax professional and company spokesman.

With the IRS accepting tax returns beginning Jan. 20, the millions of taxpayers who typically receive a refund in early February can file as they normally would and receive their refund in a timely manner.

“Taxpayers don’t need to wait to prepare their returns. For those who file in January, there is no quicker way to get their refund than to come to H&R Block and have their refund direct deposited to their own bank account or the industry-leading Emerald Prepaid Mastercard®,” said Gartland.

H&R Block tax professionals and online tax preparation solution are ready to assist taxpayers in claiming all of the tax breaks to which they are entitled.

This tax season could shape up to be one of the more complex filing seasons with the Affordable Care Act serving as one of the largest tax code changes in 20 years. In addition, Congress extended a variety of tax breaks late last year that impact up to 1 in 6 taxpayers, enabling them to claim these important breaks on their 2014 income tax return.
