The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) is your voice at the IRS. TAS ensures you are treated fairly, and know and understand your rights. If you are having tax problems and have not been able to resolve them with the IRS, you may be eligible for free TAS help.

If you have tried to solve your tax problems with the IRS and they do not respond in a reasonable time or if a decision by the IRS is causing you financial harm, you can contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service. They assign a local advocate to your case that can communicate with the IRS for you and make sure your rights are protected.
