Why you received IRS Notice CP53B

  1. You filed a tax return that resulted in a refund and you requested that the refund be direct deposited into your bank account.
  2. The financial institution rejected the deposit.
  3. Notice CP53B was sent to inform you that a refund check will be mailed to your last known address within eight to ten weeks. The notice also alerts you that you could be a victim of identity theft and advises you to monitor all your financial accounts.
