This is the final notice prior to the IRS filing a levy against any federal payments due to the business. The notice also advises you of the IRS’ right to file a lien on your business’ property or rights to property.

Why you received IRS Notice CP297

  1. Your business owes a balance due.
  2. The IRS sent notices requesting full payment of the balance due, but you have not responded.
  3. The IRS sent CP297 as the final notice prior to filing a levy against any federal payments due to you and prior to filing a lien. You have a right to appeal the proposed levy or lien action.

Notice deadline: 30 days
