Where’s my refund – Nebraska?

To check the status of a refund please use the Refund Information web page for the most up-to-date information.

In order to view status information, you will be prompted to enter:

Nebraska refund

  • Social Security number
  • Filing status
  • Refund amount

Then, click on “I am not a robot”. From there, you should click on “Check Refund Status”.

If you do not have access to a computer, you may also contact 1-800-742-7474 or 1-402-471-5729.

The Nebraska Department of Revenue’s online refund status tool offers a fast way for Nebraska taxpayers to check on the status of their income tax refund. (Please note: this doesn’t apply to amended tax returns).

So, how long should you wait?

Allow a minimum of 30 days to get receive your refund if you e-file an error-free return.

For paper returns, allow a minimum of three months to get your tax refund (pending you submitted an error-free return).

Your Nebraska refund will likely be sent three months after the date your return was received, if your return is filed by the due date.

What can cause a delay in my Nebraska state refund?

There are a number of things that could cause a Nebraska refund delay. They could include the following:

  • If the department needs to verify information reported on your return or request additional information, the process will take longer.
  • Math errors in your return or other adjustments.
  • You used more than one form type to complete your return.
  • Your return was missing information or incomplete.
